Announcement Regarding the Closure of the FredCentre Mini SMP Server

August 25th, 2026 - Minecraft News

FredCentre Mini SMP began with a simple idea: to connect the FredCentre fan community within the world of Minecraft. And FredCentre Mini SMP Season II... was based on that same idea. However, I had been thinking about turning it into a much more competitive server. I started renting the server in May. My original plan was to create a server where players would fight each other for survival (similar to Rust). But the idea I’d been nurturing for so long failed, and I had to take a more “backup” and “safe” route. Since economy-based servers are the new trend among SMP servers today, I decided to follow that trend as well. I spent an entire month setting up the server myself, from the core system to implementing features and ensuring smooth operation. The server relaunched in early July with several shortcomings, but I’ve been gradually improving it.

However, while creating a server is difficult, maintaining it for the long term is even harder. I made too many mistakes by not updating or paying attention to the server often enough, which led to the server having to “fend for itself” while I was away. Also, since this isn’t a self-hosted server but one rented from a third party, all DDoS issues are handled by them. I have no control over them.

The FredCentre Mini SMP server cluster will be phased out gradually. Starting with the Legacy server, which will shut down on August 28, and the main server, which will shut down on September 12. All items on the server will be 25% off starting today until the server closes. So, if you can, make the most of your final moments on this server before it closes permanently.
